Events in Bruges

28th, 29th and 30th of September 2013

Kokeet

Bruges has a long tradition of gastronomy. In total, Bruges has 14 Michelin stars thanks to restaurants as De Karmeliet***, Hertog Jan***, De Jonkman**, Danny Horseele**, A’Qi*, Sans Cravate*, Den Gouden Harynck* and De Herborist*. So it is justified when we say Bruges is the Eldorado for connoisseurs. 9 of those 14 stars are represented at Kookeet. In the stylish tent village on the Zand square you will be able to choose from a wide range of culinary hors d’oeuvres. There will also be a special tent with cooking demonstrations by the participating top chefs. Come and enjoy the atmosphere, discover some culinary novelties, but above all let us surprise you with a wide range of fine cooking at democratic prices.

Ice Skating Rink

During the Christmas period the Bruges’ market square looks like a winter wonderland. Spin around and turn pirouettes on Bruges' Market Square Ice Rink. It wouldn’t be winter without this fantastic experience. The Christmas market on the main square forms a ring around the open-air ice rink.

Ice Sculpture Festival

Every year, Bruges proudly presents the Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival hosted at the railway station. It is a must-see and very unique winter experience in Europe. Three hundred thousand kilos of ice and 400 tons of snow are shipped in, and professional ice sculptors work hard to carve the most beautiful glacial creations. After your adventure through the ice you can enjoy a heart-warming glass “in the rocks” at the ice bar or warm up in the nostalgic tent of mirrors. This year’s theme is “Ice Palace”

December Dance

December Dance 2013 is the culmination of a festive year. Last season, Wim Vandekeybus and his company Ultima Vez celebrated their 25th anniversary with an impressive jubilee programme. What juicier cherry could there be on their birthday cake than to appoint this renowned choreographer curator of the international dance festival December Dance?  Brugge and Cultuurcentrum Brugge are once again organising a December Dance Platform: a chance for up-and-coming young talents to present their latest creations. As we have come to expect, the number of dance performances with live music will be exceptionally high. Especially for December Dance 2013 Vandekeybus has created Spiritual Unity: a clever patchwork of choreographies and compositions selected from the past five years of Ultima Vez. Wim Vandekeybus knows how to party.
